Default Help with a fatboy psp 1001

Okay so my friend hands me over his psp today, says it don't work, just quit working one day for no reason, so I have it here been playing with it, the lcd's backlight works, the battery charges, it turns on to a green light. but no actualy picture on the screen, 30-40 seconds later, it shuts back off.

the umd drive spins up also, I tried on ac power with the battery out, tried with a game in, tried holding all sorts of buttons before plugging the power in or turnin it on to still the same thing. Also took the memory card out..

any ideas ? serial # starts with SU, be nice to get it working for him...

    thanks everyone

    His PSP is bricked.

You need to either buy a pandora battery or soft mod one to unbrick it.

you can use a PSP-1000 battery for a PSP-2001 , but the PSP-2001 battery is smaller and doesn't fit properly in the phat psp.

So if you do make this and want to use it on both, use the phat battery (but u might need to buy a new one after)

or, if you can use a phat battery with a slim, why not soft mod your friend's battery using your slim, then when you've used it to fix his psp, change it back to a normal battery?

to avoid the explosion that will happen just let the PSP sit on all day until it cant turn on then operate on it =]

ok thanks alot everyone i'll pandoraize the phatboy battery with hardmod. Although my friend probably won't want his psp back when he hears he has to buy a new battery, but he didn't really care, if I fixed it he was just gonna pawn it back at the pawn shop he had bought it at I'll just toss him a few bucks for it....as i did get a really nice good sized PSP case out of the deal. OH yeah and his battery is already drained, not been used or touched in over about a year.
