you can permanently flash a cfw on 88v3 and up mobos? that's cool, i didn't know you could do that at all. i was fiddling with my psp a while ago, upgraded to 6.60 pro-b10. it can be permanent, just not on mine. oh well.

6.60 pro works fine. it doesn't even take a minute to boot into the cfw. why are you sticking with an outdated cfw?
Also, I have a 2000, but it's got an 88v3 mobo which hasn't been decrypted fully meaning I can't flash anything on it permanently. What mobo version do you have in yours? If you can flash a fw period you would be able to upgrade and use the permanent cipl to boot into cfw from a full power off.

this is a noob question. but how can i tell what version my mother board is? uhm i stick with an outdated cfw because there was alot of cool stuff on 5.00m33 that wasnt on the new firmwares but, now most of the stuff is on 6.XX so i might update. Do i have to use pspident?

Probably the easiest way is to find out your mobo version is to use PSP Tool, downloadable here: http://psp.dashhacks.com/downloads/psp-tool-v100
Once you open that up, go to About, then System Information, then on the third page it'll be the first entry in the left column. You can check the result against the chart here: http://cdn.trickyways.com/wp-content...rd-model-4.jpg. If your mobo says yes in the CHA section you can flash a permanent cfw. As you can see in the chart, the only mobos that can't be flashed permanently are the 88v3 and 90v2. So if you don't have either of those you should be good to go. And if you do decide to try upgrading, the utility that flashes the permanent cfw part will check the mobo version as well and not attempt to run if you have one of the two (I checked haha)
It does sound like you have one of the completely hackable versions. But check things out, and if that doesn't work, can't you use hellcat's flasher to revert?
