Because people want the latest things. Why charge? To promote monopolies? You're currently the only one willing to do that. If I came out and decided I wanted to do that, I could and would charge nothing. You know which one would be more popular? The free one. You'll get more reputation, and if you ask for it, more donations and money.

if i spend my time, using my learned skills to make a code, it is my right to sell it, and it's no different than making anything else and selling it. the way you put it is, people shouldnt have to even pay for games, which most dont, and thats illegal, i usually buy my games because i respect thier makers because without them, we wouldnt have the games to play.

No, if someone spent a great deal of time and had to spend money to make it obviously deserves money. If someone has no capital in making it, I don't see why they need money to have as profit.
