BG seems somewhat messy in a way.....

if u were to get rid of some of the stuff in the BG, then apply image.....set to overlay......erase EVERYTHING except for the BG........then lower opac. till it looks good.......

When it comes to bringing it to life, I like to design according to the render and its characteristics, adding more of personification, as when it comes to Leonidas and Sparta, its a bit known for their mess. And overlaying it would add more contrast to it, and since there has been much lightening and brushing some areas would shine out more than others and the colors would have a bad imbalance, and lowering the opacity, it would look good if its around 5-20%, so on point.

i have seen a lot with that 300 render but i like how yours stands out its different style then the others so i say don't change it
