lol, ok 1337 has several references attached to it. Usually, it means "leet" as in "eleet" as in "elite" because 1 = l, 3 = e, 7 = t. It used to be a more exclusively used "word" by only hackers and crackers but has since expanded to popular internet slang. Sadly. Personally, I think it has lost all value and isnt worth using anymore. Noobs tend to like it cause they think it makes them seem more intelligent/somehow better but all it really does is expose their inexperience. Now a "1337 flamer" would either mean that they are good at flaming or, more likely, be used as a mock against the flamer as flamers are looked down upon by the more respected forum members.
