    I'm going to go ahead and assume that your PSP is at 5.03 or below. If this is not the case, look up how to make a pandora battery or find one for sale.
    If you are at a OFW below 5.03, upgrade to 5.03. Don't upgrade any further than that. Then, use ChickHEN or one of its variants. This will allow you to run the CFW installer. Since you have a 1001 you can upgrade to 5.50 GEN-D and then install the Prometheus-2 addon that will allow you to play games requiring a higher FW.
