This is with nothing but the picture, a black background, and then a layer of her smudged out.

for rendering pics i always use a soft brush 0% hardness, it actually works quite well for me.

and btw, nice sig it looks awesome

You can see the hardness when choosing a brush, i always set mine to about 25% hardness to cut around hair and depending on the size of the pic i set my brush to about 5-10 px wide and it always cuts right
