View Full Version : Google Chrome now better than Firefox?

Google Chrome now supports extensions. Woot!

Extensions like ABP and DL Helper, and now that it has everything Firefox does, and its faster(for me at least), why not run it? (:

Granted, all extensions haven't been developed, but eventually they will be, the essentials I made, I suggest you try it.

Chrome will never be better than firefox ^_^
Doesn't run any faster for me, has less usefull features/extensions.

Also, if you ARE a chrome user, then stop being retarded and get Iron instead.

Is it really? Im still on IE. Think I should switch?

Yeah, definitely switch if you're on IE.

@WIY, its your opinion, you're entitled to it(:

But, now with Extensions, and some extensions are better like snapshot in the webpage and save right there, really fast really efficient, addons install MUCH faster, no need for restart, better look/themes. Tbh, I'm sticking with FF though, just because its what I'm used to.

Er.. Plenty of screenshot extensions for firefox that "save right there"
-_-

Firefox > Chrome

And if anyone is still on IE, you're retarded.

eh don't really use extensions, they both run about the same speed, but i really like chromes history option, like with the 8 windows when you open a new tab. and it freezes less often than firefox for me.

Yeah, my friend told me to check out chrome and its sweet. browsing is SOOOOO much better, the page actually takes up most of the screen, unlike firefox where 1/4 of the screen was toolbars, etc. I like it a lot better.

Er, maybe if you didn't fail you'd have a bunch of room with firefox too?
I've got more space than chrome gives buddy.

=D hao?

it's funny, yesterday somebody did a presentation in class about internet browsers and everyone got into a debate about what was better. except for the people who didnt know there were different browsers than IE, they were just all O_0.

Not really, chrome isn't any faster than firefox.
Firefox isn't any faster than chrome.

The only thing faster about chrome is the boot time, well at least for me, since I have so many customizations. But if you compare chrome boot time to firefox in 'safemode' then it's pretty much the same.

chrome is definitely faster they remade a better javascript engine it always uses less memory for me than ff. i like the layout too less clutter.

If you actually see a difference in speed whilst browsing then you must have really bad internet, since most of the speed has to do with your connection, not the browser itself. (Also, since you haven't used firefox in who knows how long, 3.6 recently came out which is "20% faster", so if chrome really was any faster for you then it probably isn't anymore)

And yes, chrome does use less memory, but as I said earlier, run firefox in safemode (basically runs it at bare minimum) and it'll be very close to chrome, since all your firefox plugins and other crap won't be running. Firefox also PURPOSELY uses more memory, try checking the settings once in a while, it uses memory you don't need for other shit, and caching and w/e, and you can raise or lower the amount it uses. No point of having all that RAM if you're not going to use it anyway, I have mine using 400MB some times, but if you're computer only has a 1 gig total, or you need your RAM for something else, then it won't use nearly that much, so that's not even an argument in any way.

As for the layout, as I mentioned earlier, FireFox is much better because you can actually customize the layout the way you like it. Chrome forces you to use it's very limited layout. I posted a picture earlier, notice just one toolbar, not the default 2 or 3. You can also add or remove any of the buttons you want or don't want, making it much cleaner (or messier) than chrome. And this is all a default feature, not a plugin or anything of the sort to customize it. Stop being crippled and take about 5 seconds to clean it up.

And for anyone who is wondering, I do use chrome as well, firefox is just my main and preferred browser (as it's most definitely better).

2 things I like more about chrome:
1) Boot time, definitely faster.
2) Shows your most viewed sites and recent tabs when you open a new tab. (Although I have a firefox plugin to do this for me, but default features are always nice).

Because you were wrong...? And still are...
or maybe your wrong for once. Chrome is faster and better than firefox.... Firefox only beats chrome by extensions
other than that chromes as fatser javascript rendering, also its much safer to use chrome than firefox...
knowing you, u will argue even when your wrong, but i actully know what im talking about with this soo.

Like I said earlier (which you I guess didn't bother to read), I use BOTH and see no improvement in Chrome's speed. I'm not like you who most likely on uses the one browser and is just screaming "Hurrr chrome is faster dah googles told meh!!!! Hurrhurr dey rewrote da java stuffs!@!@"
And how is it safer? They're both open source, both are as vulnerable as the next... And considering that FireFox gets A LOT more updates, any security flaws that are ever found are patched extremely quickly, firefox is in no way 'unsafe'... So obviously, you DON'T know what you're talking about.
But I guess if you're definition of safe is "sending all my info to google" then you're right...? Again, you're a dumbass if you use chrome, and don't really know shit about what you're talking about... AT LEAST use iron.

Sorry bud, I argue when I'm right. But nice attempt at trying to get me to shut up?

Edit: Oh and for the record, just to back up my own arguments (for my own sake, obviously this isn't any solid proof), Loaded up both chrome and firefox, brought them both to google, then tested each one. I went to a site that I hadn't been to, so no cache or anything of the sort... Firefox took around 1 second to fully load & display it, whereas chrome took around 2.5, so please move along, thanks.

Its safer because less hackers target it, and less people use it. Firefox updates dont mean that it is any safer just means they are patching shit. And no your not right your actully wrong.
Your system as propably got a firewall which allows firefox through better than chrome. On all bench marks thorughout the PC sites chrome consistently shows as a faster browser. Your compute is not a benchmark is it??? so dont you that as a reasonable reason to say that chrome is slower. Also i doubt you actully know anything about browser security to actully make any come back to what i said about it, but in reason, the more popular a browser is the more it is easier for it to get explioted. IE > Firefox > what ever is next.

Less hackers targeting it doesn't make something safer. Being safe has to do with the actual coding not being crappy and vulnerable, genius. I really don't know what hackers you're talking about that are targeting firefox... There are no major exploits to firefox that would make you vuln (if ANY at all)... And you obviously didn't understand anything about what I was getting at about updates. The POINT was (since you can't comprehend simple things and need multiple explanations) that firefox gets updated EXTREMELY often, and if some exploit were to ever surface, it would most likely get patched EXTREMELY quickly, and we can't exactly say that about chrome (yet).
How would that firewall argument make any sort of sense? The firewall would either allow/deny access to the internet that's all, and even with the firewall entirely off, identical results, so there goes that argument.
And why could I not say chrome is slower? If it's slower for ME then it IS slower, you can't come tell me it's faster for me when I'm telling you it's SLOWER for ME. Also, show me some RECENT, I'm talking VERY VERY recent (such as within the last month) solid PROOF showing that chrome is actually faster as far as browsing goes... And not just some one site's/kid's little blog or video or anything, real proof.

I don't know browser security? What do YOU know about it? Most likely nothing... And making a comeback to what? You've said nothing other than "blarrr chrome fast!!! hurr chrome safe!!" with no proof of such.
And again, you're showing how little you know about this by saying that IE is unsafe just because it's popular. You obviously know nothing about what you argue about, IE is unsafe because of it's CRAPPY CODING, there are major flaws in it that ALLOW these exploits... Flaws that are so big that microsoft can't even patch them, if they wish to get rid of them they have to literally recode IE from scratch... Seriously, go read some shit before trying to argue something.
