i hope this turns out to be real-it seems legit enough to me-of course with everything that's happened in the Sony homebrew/hacking community lately, I wouldn't be completely astonished if it never came to light.

This is awesome, but tbh, i hope that if he does create a custom firmware for the masses, that he limits it to customization and homebrew, with the exceptions of things like nitepr. Piracy and cheating will do nothing good for the PS3.

I don't think cheating would be that big of an issue. I highly doubt anyone's willing to get a console ban to cheat. I agree with the Piracy though.

I wouldn't want to risk Sony not being able to detect and ban cheaters. I don't want MW2 and whatever comes after it to be the next SFDM.

Oh I'd much rather not have it happen at all, I was just saying if worst came to worst :P

Also, I would gladly record people and report them. It would warm my fucked up heart knowing I demolished some kids PS3 :)

True. There would be ways to get cheaters banned if Sony did something about reports. But they'd get so bogged down by bogus reports from noobs.
Although... if there was some way to directly bomb a cheater's system... I'd be down with that.

a screen shot would help you prove your case that someone is cheating. If Sony doesn't want a repeat that they had with the psp then they will lose so much money from the psn store if cfw came out. Not so much money loss from the blue ray disc games. I mean come on who's going to want to DL a 50+gb game

maybe not all Blu-Ray games will be so big. Wii ISOs are all 4.7 GB or somewhere like that but when you put them ona HDD some of them can only be a few hundred MB. I know that there's a big difference between Wii and PS3, but maybe some games will only be like 10gb or so. Still pretty big, but if you have an external hard drive to play them on, you could fit about 10 games on it
